As principal and owner of Cortney Bishop Design (CBD), a full-service, Charleston-based interior design firm founded in 2007, she works with clients to design modern eclectic interiors in some of the most sought-after locations along the east coast and around the world. Her work has been recognized by leading publications such as Architectural Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Domino, ELLE Décor, LUXE Interiors + Design, House Beautiful, RUE, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
An avid globetrotter, Bishop looks to her travels, as well as her love of art, music and fashion for inspiration. Her wide-ranging talent and innate ability to mix patterns and hues has resulted in a robust portfolio of inspiring residential and commercial projects that evoke an undeniable energy and effortless sense of cool that has become a CBD signature. In 2021, Bishop made her mark on downtown Charleston’s hospitality and social scene with the opening of The Ryder Hotel, a modern lifestyle destination imagined and executed in CBD’s vision.
Beyond running CBD, Bishop is also founder of Harwood House, a premier line of woven textiles created in collaboration with Holland & Sherry. Since launching in 2019, she has released two collections, Cardinal and Kalos, both inspired by her own family roots and the creative influences that helped shape her career. Bishop is an alumna of the University of Georgia, where she received her BBA in Business marketing.

In her near decade of work, she has been the lead designer on numerous residential, commercial and editorial projects.
Her talent and passion for creating and styling environments comes from long residencies in Mexico, where she studied the intersection of indigenous Mexican and European material culture. In 2016, Hopkins assisted Bishop in launching and designing two textile collections for Holland and Sherry. This interest in woven hand craft expanded to her own line of blankets and bedding entitled Folk Textiles that were released in an early 2022 capsule collection.
