Jonah Meyer, Smokehouse

Artist Jonah Meyer brings a background in painting and sculpture to Sawkille Co., the Hudson Valley design studio he co-founded with Tara DeLisio. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Meyer grew up in rural Pennsylvania with parents who were a potter and a goldsmith, surrounded by the overlapping practices of art, craft, and homesteading.

That relationship continues in Sawkille’s Kingston workshop, where furniture and objects are handcrafted using locally sourced wood. Natural forms, carved motifs, and playful architectural details carry Meyer’s artistic sensibility across functional pieces and freestanding sculpture.

Nearly twenty years ago, while preparing to build his family home, Meyer began creating a series of miniature houses. Smokehouse belongs to this personal exploration, combining rustic wood and geometric forms in a small sculptural dwelling.

Meyer’s exhibitions include Is This Real?, a 2026 presentation of furniture and art with Sawkille Co. at Maya Frodeman Gallery in Wilson, Wyoming, and Worst Case Scenario, shown at Tayloe Piggott Gallery in Jackson Hole in 2022.
