Wifredo Lam Print, 1974

This artwork titled Beautiful Thorn, "Belle épine" from the suite, Pleni Luna (full moon), is an original color print on watermarked Arches paper by Cuban artist Wifredo Lam. It is hand signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. It was published by H.A Grafik, Stockholm and printed by Ateliers Desjobert, Paris, France in 1974.

Wifredo Lam studied in Spain under the same teacher as Salvador Dali and became a friend of Picasso after moving to Paris in 1938. Upon returning to Havana in 1941, Lam began producing paintings that were dominated by hybridized human-animal and vegetal figures.
