Shelby Corso
Shelby Corso (b. 1997, New York) received her BFA in painting in May 2020 from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Md. She is interested in her relationship to symbolism, ritual, and myth-making. Often using bright colors and imagery from nature, stories, found objects, and dreams.
Working between abstract and representation, Corso synthesizes visual and emotional information to describe the phenomenon of being in the world. Her above self-portrait indicates vital feminine power, using the rabbit motif to invoke fertility.
Corso lives and works in Charleston, SC.
