Sculptural Ceramic Vessel — Anne Van Kleeck, 1970s
Associated with the late-20th-century American studio craft movement, Anne Van Kleeck produced hand-built sculptural ceramics alongside cast bronze works.
Her work is represented in major collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, as well as public commissions such as the 20-foot bronze sculpture in Santa Clara, California, in 1965.
After studying bronze casting, beaten iron, and mosaic techniques in Venice, she established a small foundry on the island of Murano with an Italian master caster to produce bronzes for a solo exhibition.
