Neeru Kumar, Handwoven Throw in Wild Tussar
Handwoven in India by master weaver and textile designer, Neeru Kumar for Pat McGann.
Iconic Hollywood textile dealer Pat McGann is the go to provider for exotic and rare fabrics on the west coast. McGannʼs discovery of her artist and master weaver Neeru Kumar in the late 80ʼs lead to a life time collaboration.
Kumarʼs mastery of the traditional Indian handloom and eye for local plant and flower dyes has produced unique collections containing innovative and stylized rich contemporary patterns for over 20 years. Kumar studied at the national design institute in Ahmadabad where she excelled in the centuries old tradition of warp and weft handloom weaving, a technique foundational to the craft heritage of India.
The Japanese stripe wool & Tussar bed cover homages the eastern Edo stripe while utilizing north Indian Tussar silk made from the Antheraea moth.
