Don ZanFagna Pulse Dome 45 Collage on Paper

$7,000
Artist Don ZanFagna began working in the 1950s, creating works that examine the creative potential of ecological design. Manifested through extensive journals, drawings, collages, and architectural models, his work combines environmental consciousness, technological savvy, and a utopian spirit. In the 1970s, Zanfagna founded CEASE (Center for Ecological Action to Save the Environment).

He created the concept of the Pulse Dome - a self-sustaining structure that is more akin to animal architecture — warrens, beaver mounds, etc. — than human. Built with organic materials, the Pulse Domes were intended to be sustainable in the most extreme sense. They would produce energy, grow crops, and perfectly harmonize with their environment. These works are more relevant today than ever. Work on paper.
