Oil on canvas by Hungarian-born American artist Martin Friedman (1896–1980), recognized for atmospheric, abstracted landscapes and a layered approach to painting using glazing, scumbling, underpainting, and overpainting.
Friedman studied at the National Academy of Design and exhibited widely throughout the mid-20th century, including at the Whitney Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Corcoran Gallery, and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
