Mid-20th Century Caribbean-inspired ceramic Lamp produced and sourced in France. This lantern hand modeled in ceramic, was painted with an African-inspired pattern. In the early 1900s, there remained a deep fascination with Afro-Caribbean cultures in France and continental Europe. This resulted in many European-made decorative and design objects translating and interpreting indigenous styles. With its cutouts and ink markings, this piece emulates a Namibian totem transformed into a dynamic light fixture.
