Art Deco Sofa in Fortuny Lucrezia
1920’s Italian art deco sofa in Liberty Style with a walnut base, upholstered with natural motifs from Fortuny’s iconic Venetian textiles.
The Art Deco movement in Italy, fueled by the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris (1925), emphasized bold geometry, natural motifs, and innovative materials.
Upholstered in Lucrezia Velvet in laguna & silver, the fabric draws inspiration from 17th-century Italian art, echoing the dramatic essence of Rembrandt’s Lucretia (1664). The fabric’s dense plumes and tendrils evoke the tragic heroism of its namesake, Lucrezia.
Founded by Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo in 1906, the Fortuny building— Palazzo Fortuny — reflects Venice's artistic heritage & Mediterranean influences.
Extending to his textiles, Fortuny fused elements from the Venetian Golden Age with Greek, Egyptian, and Persian art alongside Renaissance motifs, rich colors, and decorative patterns.
Pillows in Piumette in Charcoal & Gold , a geometric feather design inspired by Persian art and a french silk motif pattern by Pierre Frey.
