Roger Capron, 1970s Ceramic Coffee Table

Roger Capron, 1970s oval coffee table, produced in Vallauris, FR - the top is ceramic tile glazed in cream with inset pressed flower reliefs surrounding the center.

Capron was an internationally renowned ceramicist and designer who founded his own atelier in Vallauris in 1950. He was an associate of Picasso in the 1960s and focused his artistic output on the Provençal and art-brut styles. By using earthen materials, organic color pallets and relief gestures he invented a singular style of his own.
