Rare-Earth Vase

This contemporary art-brut vase was hand-crafted using rare earth red clay. The vessel has a fluted base with hand-pressed striations, while the rounded oval top mimics the opening shape of an exotic flower bud. On the outer layer is a white clay slab cutout glazed in sapling green and carved into a primitivist fauna design.

The vase’s raw earthen style creates a fresh sculptural touch bringing nature into stylized form. Signed on bottom by R.S., 2018.
